Rails to Victory 2019, presents "Operation Market Garden". The Fox River Trolley Museum in South Elgin, Illinois, just West of Chicago, is once again hosting the 9th annual Rails to Victory WW2 weekend on April 26-28, 2019. RTV is a Western Front European Theater event. In keeping with the theme of "Market Garden", the bridge battle along the trolley line shall stand in the for the bridge at Nijmegen. The Allies will battle with the German Army for control of the bridge reenacting parts of the war that was fought there in September 1944. On Saturday, the Allies will capture the bridge during the trolley adventure runs, and on Sunday, there will be a single large Showcase battle for final control of the Nijmegan Bridge. American, British, Polish and German soldiers are needed for the bridge battles and other small action skirmishes on the newly named "Dolle Dinsdag Express" from Amsterdam to Cologne. RTV is a great event for reenactors to immerse the public into history by putting them on a trolley and leading them through various skirmishes, skits and battles. Period civilians and Dutch Resistance reenactors are particularly needed for the various stops along the trolley line. We are also looking for medical units to participate, particularly in Sunday's Nijmegen battle. The museum offers interesting landscapes for both reenactors and spectators along the picturesque wooded and sloping terrain along the Fox River which shall stand in for the Waal River in Holland.
We are also planning a rail yard battle in the museum's bone yard, a period WW2 bicycle ride along the Fox River, and a period WW2 Girls Baseball Home Front Game. Opportunities for historical camp presentations are also welcome by all WW2 impressions and periods. All vehicles including tracked vehicles and water-crafts are welcome to participate during the event.
